Mrs. Kasirer has five decades of experience in the healthcare and long term care industry. She has served in various roles, ranging from patient care to administration, in numerous facilities. Mrs. Kasirer has been a Licensed administrator for approximately 45 years and is one of the four founders of Golden State Health Centers in 1959. She continued to serve in an advisory role to the Administrator and DON at various facilities, including Virgil. Beginning in April 2007 Mrs. Kasirer rejoined Virgil full time and in December 2009, she took on the role as Administrator.
Josh Kaplan is the Chief Operating Officer at Virgil. After graduating Brandeis University in Waltham, MA with a BA in History, Mr. Kaplan attended and graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York, NY. He also possesses a Masters Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Health Services Management from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, where he taught as an adjunct lecturer. In his legal and advisory practice prior to joining Virgil, Mr. Kaplan worked with a wide array of healthcare clients including nursing homes, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, pharmaceutical/medical device companies and physicians on legal, regulatory and strategic issues.
Ellen Abad has been a key member of the Virgil team for the last several years. She began as the RN Supervisor and then moved into the role of MDS Supervisor, where she ensured that the MDS Assessment was completed in a timely manner. A large part of her role was ensuring that patient's rights were protected, a job she carries into her role as DON.
At Virgil, Mrs. Yi provides leadership of the nursing staff and maintains the dignity, safety, and privacy of our residents.
Benjamin joins Virgil from Vista Adult Day Health Care where Benjamin oversaw the Social Services department. Benjamin holds an MSW from California State University in Los Angeles, a BA from California State Northridge and an Associate’s degree from Los Angeles City College. Benjamin looks forward to the challenge of working at Virgil and utilizing his skills and experience for the benefit of the Virgil residents.
Adriana developed her extensive rehabilitation and therapy experience by working in a variety of patient care settings. Adriana provided therapy in both outpatient and inpatient facilities, with special emphasis on extended care facilities and home health care. She brings to Virgil her wide range of experience and familiarity with neurological, orthopedic, cardiopulmonary, oncology, chronic pain, and trauma diagnoses. Adriana received an AA degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from Mount St. Mary’s College and a BS in Health Science and a MPT in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University, in Loma Linda, California.
Milagros Bellen has over 25 years of experience in dietary science. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Food Service Administration. She is a certified Dietetic Service Supervisor and a certified Administrator in Residential Care for the Elderly. At Virgil, she provides wholesome, nutritious meals for residents, including a variety of therapeutic and regular diets, select menus, and fine dining.
Ayesha Sharif comes to Virgil from Windsor Terrace Healthcare where she was the Business Office Manager. She has worked in the business office in various healthcare facilities for over a decade. Ayesha oversees the business functions at Virgil, which includes Medicare/MediCal reimbursement, accounts receivable and patient’s trust accounts.
As part of our commitment to better resident care through technology, Virgil has started an IT department, run by Michael Yu, our Clinical IT Manager. He is a graduate of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, holds an Associates degree in Computer Science from Spokane Falls Community College, and is a Licensed Vocational Nurse. At Virgil, Michael leads the IT department’s work, including training the nursing staff on our new touch screen patient care system and helping us keep better electronic medical records.
Ligaya comes to Virgil from Tarzana Health & Rehabilitation Center where she was the Staff Development Manager. She brings with her a long history of working in skilled nursing facilities. She is also a certified inservice instructor.
